IMPORTANT: This Warranty is an optional upgrade for certain Milgard product lines and must be purchased at the time of the original sale[cite: 6, 8]. If the upgrade was not selected, Milgard's standard warranty for new construction or replacement products will apply[cite: 9].

Who is Covered

This Warranty is provided for the natural lifetime of the original consumer owner for as long as they own and reside in the residential dwelling where the products were first installed[cite: 12]. Note: This Full Lifetime Warranty coverage cannot be assigned or transferred[cite: 14]. If the home is sold, used for rental/commercial purposes, or the owner ceases to reside there, the coverage lapses and any remaining remedies are determined under standard limited warranty terms[cite: 15].

What is Covered

Milgard warrants that it will repair the Product to address the following conditions, provided they resulted solely from Milgard's manufacturing process or materials[cite: 16]:

  • Frame & Panel Material: Coverage against excessive blistering, chipping, cracking, peeling, corroding, or pitting[cite: 18].
  • Insulated Glass Units (IGU): Coverage against material obstruction of vision due to dust, moisture, or chemical outgassing on internal surfaces[cite: 19].
  • Glass Breakage: Coverage for non-specialty broken or cracked glass (excluding breakage from unreasonable use or lack of maintenance)[cite: 20].
  • Hardware: Coverage for material or workmanship nonconformities affecting normal use and operation[cite: 22].

Modified Coverages

  • 10-Year Coverage: Addresses delamination in laminated/impact IGUs; obstructions in blinds between the glass; and excessive peeling, chalking, or fading in painted, powdercoat, or Capstock finishes[cite: 23, 24, 25, 26].
  • 1-Year Coverage: Addresses nonconformities in weatherstripping and screens, or corrosion in stainless steel hardware[cite: 27].

Exclusions from Coverage

Remedies are not available for conditions caused by factors outside of Milgard’s control, including[cite: 48]:

  • Failure to follow published installation recommendations or building settlement[cite: 50, 52].
  • Normal wear and tear, normal weathering (gradual fading or chalking), and aging[cite: 56, 59].
  • Alterations including applied tints, films, sealants, or customer-applied paint finishes[cite: 60].
  • Glass breakage for specialty glass such as V-Groove, laminated glass, or blinds-in-glass[cite: 70].
  • Use of power washers or harsh chemicals like brick wash and acids[cite: 65].

Labor & Shipping

Milgard will provide all labor necessary to complete the remedy and pay shipping costs during the applicable coverage period[cite: 33]. Owners must provide reasonable access to the product for service[cite: 34].
